Identification of DCAP, a drosophila homolog of a glucose transport regulatory complex
نویسندگان
چکیده
In a yeast two-hybrid screen using the Drosophila Axin protein as a bait, we have identified a Drosophila homolog of CAP, a component of the glucose transport regulatory complex. Through alternative splicing, the DCAP gene generates a set of five different proteins with unique N-terminal sequences and a common C-terminal SH3 domain. DCAP is predominantly expressed in the midgut and fat bodies of late-stage embryos, suggesting a role in insulin-mediated glucose transport in these organs.

Concentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)
Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...
متن کاملMutations in the Drosophila condensin subunit dCAP-G: defining the role of condensin for chromosome condensation in mitosis and gene expression in interphase.
Chromosomes are dynamic structures that are reorganized during the cell cycle to optimize them for distinct functions. SMC and non-SMC condensin proteins associate into complexes that have been implicated in the process of chromosome condensation. The roles of the individual non-SMC subunits of the complex are poorly understood, and mutations in the CAP-G subunit have not been described in meta...
متن کاملCondensin II Subunit dCAP-D3 Restricts Retrotransposon Mobilization in Drosophila Somatic Cells
Retrotransposon sequences are positioned throughout the genome of almost every eukaryote that has been sequenced. As mobilization of these elements can have detrimental effects on the transcriptional regulation and stability of an organism's genome, most organisms have evolved mechanisms to repress their movement. Here, we identify a novel role for the Drosophila melanogaster Condensin II subun...
متن کاملA Shared Role for RBF1 and dCAP-D3 in the Regulation of Transcription with Consequences for Innate Immunity
Previously, we discovered a conserved interaction between RB proteins and the Condensin II protein CAP-D3 that is important for ensuring uniform chromatin condensation during mitotic prophase. The Drosophila melanogaster homologs RBF1 and dCAP-D3 co-localize on non-dividing polytene chromatin, suggesting the existence of a shared, non-mitotic role for these two proteins. Here, we show that the ...
